Overview

SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Build Supervisor for the Hawthorne booster subassembly production team will oversee the building, assembling, and welding of propulsion conduit subassemblies for the Starship booster.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an hourly workforce of technicians and welders.
  • Create and maintain a tight production schedule.
  • Be responsible for recruiting and development of new welders and technicians.
  • Track shop floor metrics and partner with engineering to maximize delivery rate.
  • Collaborate with management and engineering teams to streamline work processes.
  • Lead by setting an example and motivating the organization.
  • Drive shop floor culture of continuous improvement and maintain 5S protocols.
  • Ensure employee safety through regular assessments and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience in final assembly production.
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team or a project.
  • A&P license (preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in a welding role.
  • General welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly procedures.
  • Experience effectively communicating with production and engineering teams.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl and maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time – 8 hours minimum.
