Overview
The Street Services Worker position involves performing various tasks related to street repair operations, including asphalt work and traffic control. Candidates must meet specific qualifications and are subject to a performance test as part of the selection process.
Responsibilities
- Rake hot mix asphalt to grade with an asphalt lute behind a paving machine.
- Shovel or spread hot asphalt materials to meet the grade of existing structures.
- Operate screed controls of asphalt paving machine or may be assigned to slurry crew.
- Make small asphalt repairs (SAR) to roadway.
- Maintain paperwork and assist equipment operator to hand load debris.
- Clean job-site and place warning devices for traffic control.
- May be assigned to other duties related to various street repair operations.
Requirements
- Three months of full-time paid experience in raking, tamping, smoothing, or compacting bituminous (asphalt) mixtures.
- A valid Class C driver’s license issued by the California DMV is required at the time of appointment.
- Certain assignments may require a valid Class B driver’s license and a valid medical certificate approved by the DMV.
