Overview

The Utility Person position is an entry-level role in plant maintenance at Martin Marietta, ensuring safe and efficient production operations. This role focuses on material handling, housekeeping, and equipment support to optimize operational flow and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production and plant-specific mobile equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Use standard operating procedures to troubleshoot malfunctions or issues.
  • Participate in plant operations, including production, loading, and shipping.
  • Adjust equipment to maximize production under direct supervision.
  • Assist in complex repairs, including basic cutting and welding.
  • Use hand shovels, rakes, and power tools for material removal.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on plant and mobile equipment.
  • Perform pre- and post-shift inspections and maintain maintenance logs.
  • Ensure work areas and machinery are clean and safe.
  • Provide operational support across departments.
  • Assist with additional tasks outside core responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of prior experience in the Aggregate Industry preferred.
  • Experience in Plant Operations and Maintenance is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of MSHA compliance and regulations.
  • Effective time management skills.
