Overview

SpaceX is developing technologies to enable human life on Mars, and as a Plumbing Technician on the 2nd shift, you will help maintain advanced manufacturing facilities, solving complex problems and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, managers, and customers to maintain systems in peak operating condition.
  • Develop and update detailed work instructions for proper equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain and repair HVAC support equipment on facilities systems.
  • Perform ductwork modifications and various plumbing tasks.
  • Assemble, install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, and drainage systems.
  • Conduct hands-on shop work and on-site inspections of mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications for work and materials.
  • Read and interpret schematics for assembly and repair.
  • Perform failure assessments and day-to-day safety inspections.
  • Adjust and fabricate mechanical parts using hand and machine tools.
  • Present equipment maintenance statuses to internal and external customers.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes.
  • Use MS Outlook and Teams for communication.
  • Open, track, and resolve electronic work tickets.
  • Manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with HVAC, plumbing, pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical systems.
  • Knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, electrical safety, and pneumatic principles.
  • Technical certification, journeyman, or master in relevant systems.
  • Knowledge of high-pressure gas, flammable gas, and refrigeration gases.
  • Experience maintaining HEPA filters and air handling unit filtration systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with commercial building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and schematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional Information

  • Must work the second shift: 3PM - 1:30AM PT.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Work hours may require overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Periodic work in extreme outdoor environments.
  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license.
