Job Description

Overview

The Rigger position at Hanwha Philly Shipyard involves selecting and attaching rigging equipment to safely move loads. The role requires knowledge of rigging gear and effective communication skills to ensure safety in a heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Hanwha Philly Shipyard rules and regulations.
  • Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, shackles, clamping devices, blocks, synthetic slings, and sheaves according to weight and size of load.
  • Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
  • Attach load with grappling devices to crane hook.
  • Give directions to Overhead Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer to ensure safety.
  • Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment.
  • Use proper hand signals and radio communication with crane operators.
  • Visually inspect all rigging gear to ensure safety.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School or GED Diploma.
  • Minimum 3 years structural steel rigging or erecting experience.
  • Fundamentals of rigging and basic working knowledge of crane and rigging gear.
  • High Reach Forklift experience.
  • Knowledge of proper hand and radio signals for all cranes.
  • Knowledge of tying knots.
  • Knowledge of visually inspecting all rigging gear for safety.
  • Knowledge of various size wire ropes' breaking strengths.
