Overview

This weekend position for a Structural Welder involves working 12-hour shifts from Friday through Sunday, focusing on the fabrication and assembly of buildings using steel and other metals. The role requires precision and adherence to safety regulations while offering a competitive wage and potential bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret specifications and blueprints.
  • Lay out, fit, or connect parts to be welded, calculating production measurements as necessary.
  • Set up and operate welding machines to fabricate metal products or assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot welding equipment problems.
  • Assemble, align, and clamp workpieces into holding fixtures to weld fabricated metal components according to design and specifications.
  • Inspect, measure, or test completed metal workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using measuring and testing devices.
  • Work with overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Perform other shop duties such as cutting, assembly, or kitting when needed.
  • Ensure safety, quality, and production processes are followed; use required PPE and safely operate welding machines and tools.
  • Ensure that all cleaning and maintenance schedules are completed and maintained to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to cross train and assist in other shop functions as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass 3g fcaw test.
  • Ability to pass 3g gmaw test.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school certificate in welding is a plus.
  • Minimum of one year of experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking/sitting.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility.
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
  • Visual and auditory acuity.

Additional Information

  • This is a weekend position, working 12 hour shifts Friday through Sunday (36 hours).
  • Eligible for sign on bonus and shift differential pay, to be discussed upon job offer.
