Overview
Moffatt & Nichol is seeking an Entry/Junior Level Engineer Diver with commercial diving certification to perform structural inspections of marine structures and ports in New York City. The position involves leading a team in evaluating structures through above and underwater inspections while utilizing modern technology and tools.
Responsibilities
- Performs site investigations of marine structures, bridges, and other infrastructure assets.
- Ensures that the scope of work is fulfilled as directed and that the contracted deliverable is submitted on schedule and within budget.
- Conducts data entry/manipulation and technical writing for inspection reports and proposals.
- Analyzes deteriorated components of marine and bridge structures to assess load capacity.
- Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
- Provides quality assurance reviews of inspection reports.
- Works collaboratively with all members of the inspection team and other engineering disciplines.
- Assists with civil and structural design.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university, with a preference for structural coursework.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required.
- Certified Commercial Diver required; ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS, or completion of a US military equivalent diving school required.
- Entry level to 4+ years of related diving and inspection experience required.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing and personal transportation required.
- Boater Safety Card preferred.
- Availability and willingness to travel as required.
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Possess DBIDS card or eligibility to successfully pass background check for Department of Defense DBIDS card preferred.
- Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferred.
- Selected candidate must consent to and pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening.
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment background check.

Additional Information
- Most work is local/regional with the ability to return home most evenings.
- When travel outside of the New York area is required, it is typically less than 2 weeks in duration.
