Overview

The Welder Pole Shop position involves setting up and operating various welding equipment to produce high-quality parts in a safe and efficient manner. The role requires reading blueprints and adhering to safety regulations while performing welding tasks on steel and aluminum components.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate mig welders, tig welders, and automatic welders using jigs or fixtures.
  • Set up and operate manual acetylene torches and plasma arc torches.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, production documents, and engineering specification sheets.
  • Produce parts that meet acceptable quality levels as established by the engineering department.
  • Weld steel and aluminum and pass the Canadian Standards Association Welding Certification.
  • Perform material handling necessary for job performance.
  • Adhere to all departmental, plant, and welding safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for housekeeping duties as required or assigned.
  • Complete paperwork necessary for production reporting.
  • Perform rework as required or assigned.
  • Initiate work orders and coordinate with the supervisor or lead on equipment or material problems.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Experience with mig and tig welding.
  • Ability to pass the Canadian Standards Association Welding Certification.
  • Skills in operating manual acetylene and plasma arc torches.
