Job Description
Overview
The Master Mobile Mechanic combines advanced mechanical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of heavy mobile equipment, particularly CAT and Komatsu earthmoving and aggregate equipment. This role involves diagnosing complex issues, performing precision repairs, and mentoring mechanics while driving continuous improvement in fleet performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform expert-level troubleshooting on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical circuits, and drivetrains for heavy mobile equipment.
- Utilize OEM-specific software to interpret fault codes, monitor machine health, and perform calibrations.
- Execute major component rebuilds, precision alignments, and fabrication tasks using advanced tools and diagnostic software.
- Interpret complex electrical and hydraulic schematics to repair sophisticated control systems.
- Lead root-cause analysis for recurring mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct post-repair testing and calibration to ensure equipment meets specifications before returning to production.
- Perform expert-level welding and structural fabrication to repair cracked frames and other components.
- Use precision measurement tools to verify tolerances during rebuilds.
- Enforce safety protocols during all maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate service records, diagnostic reports, and inventory logs.
- Assist in budgeting for parts, tools, and equipment upgrades.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to source high-quality components.
- Serve as the technical lead for Mobile Mechanics, providing guidance and training.
- Coordinate complex repair projects and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Requirements
- Vocational training or equivalent experience.
- Advanced technical certifications in diesel mechanics, hydraulics, or welding preferred.
- 4+ years Mobile Equipment Maintenance Experience.
- CAT maintenance preferred.
- Welding and metalworking skills.
- Mechanical analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Critical thinking skills and detail-oriented.

What you'll be running
