Overview

Xigma Engineering & Fabrication in Lincoln Park, MI is seeking reliable and dependable experienced fabrication welders for immediate full-time day shift positions. The company is an established metal fabricator in the Metro-Detroit Area, and welding knowledge and experience will influence starting pay.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Weld using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts for welding.
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to specifications.
  • Connect and adjust regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure.
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods applying knowledge of metallurgy and welding techniques.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating or warping of materials.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using various welding processes.

Requirements

  • Experience with Arc, Mig, and Flux Core Welding.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment such as torches, drills, plasma cutters, saws, and shears.
  • Forklift certificate and/or experience.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to work on one’s feet for an entire shift and lift 50 pounds or more consistently.
  • Must be a team player and willing to perform other tasks necessary for fabrication.
