Education Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications.
  • Ability to accurately use measuring tools and welding equipment.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience with MIG welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Ability to assemble and weld components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience inspecting weld quality and ensuring finished products meet production standards.
  • Must successfully pass a welding test for hatch covers and rail car gates.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Welding Certification preferred or ability to pass an in-house welding certification test.
  • Experience welding flat, vertical fillet, and lap joints on metal ranging from 7-gauge to 5/16-inch thickness.
  • Knowledge of welding parameters, weld symbols, and fabrication standards.
  • Experience performing basic equipment setup, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand for 8 to 10 hours per shift.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive welding and assembly tasks.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE.

Job Duties

  • Perform MIG welding, assembly, and fabrication of hatch covers, rail car gates, and related components.
  • Set up, operate, and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Measure and verify parts using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Follow established welding procedures and parameters to produce high-quality welds.
  • Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and finished assemblies to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with production team members to improve workflow, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while following all company safety policies.
