Overview

The Welder position involves performing and inspecting various welding operations for pipeline and facility construction and maintenance at Tallgrass, a leading energy infrastructure company. The role requires adherence to safety and operational standards while ensuring high-quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and inspect welding operations on pipelines and related equipment.
  • Layout, cut, fit, and prepare materials for welding.
  • Fabricate materials from piping schematics and drawings.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
  • Plan and coordinate pipeline shutouts for welding.
  • Maintain and oversee the upkeep of facilities and equipment.
  • Supervise construction and maintenance activities by third parties.
  • Identify and report safety and environmental concerns.
  • Complete documentation and paperwork as required.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of people.
  • Maintain regular attendance and high performance.
  • Work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Prioritize personal and public safety.
  • Maintain Operator Qualification on assigned tasks.
  • Pass the Tallgrass pipe Welding test annually.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a pipe welder.
  • Knowledge of micrometers, calipers, and thickness testing equipment.
  • Understanding of basic properties of metals.
  • Basic knowledge of pipe SMYS grades and ANSI fitting pressure classes.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Pass the Tallgrass pipe Welding test prior to hire.
  • Achieve and maintain relevant certifications and qualifications.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
