Overview

The Materials Engineering Group of Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Materials or Welding Engineer with expertise in Welding, Nondestructive Examination (NDE), and Quality Control (QC). This role involves providing technical support for internal and external clients, primarily in the power and related industries, and offers opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, review, and perform project-related activities in welding, NDE, QC, and materials.
  • Conduct failure evaluations and material selection.
  • Support metallurgical and heat treatment analysis.
  • Evaluate welding design and develop welding procedures.
  • Oversee vendor shop activities and perform surveillance.
  • Review and support Nondestructive Examination and Testing.
  • Develop and review QC programs and plans.
  • Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Evaluate corrosion and coating selection.
  • Manage materials and related personnel.

Requirements

  • BS or MS from an ABET-accredited engineering program or related academic experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in welding, NDE techniques, QC, and materials/metallurgy/welding.
  • Certification as AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or ASNT Level II NDT Certification(s) or AMPP Coating Inspection certification.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical reasoning.

Additional Information

  • The position may involve approximately 10-15% domestic and potential international travel.
  • This role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two days remote.
