Overview

Ferrero is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician responsible for the safe and effective troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment, including ovens and packaging machinery. The role requires planned and preventive maintenance and is located in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs packaging, baking, and processing equipment.
  • Diagnoses reasons for mechanical failures and applies basic electricity principles.
  • Provides basic maintenance services to the building structure.
  • Repairs pneumatic, mechanical drive, and electrical components.
  • Safely operates shop equipment including hydraulic presses, Bridgeport, lathes, band saws, and hand-operated power tools.
  • Operates forklifts and aerial lifts.
  • Understands plant utilities equipment including chillers, HVAC, and air compressors.
  • Performs basic electrical troubleshooting including fuses, motors, circuit breakers, and plant lighting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience or a combination of 3 years' experience and education.
  • At least 1 year of maintenance experience required.
  • Mig, tig, and stick welding skills preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS or ERP systems preferred, SAP experience preferred.
  • Basic computing skills required.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG, TIG, and Stick work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
