Overview

The Maintenance Technician III is a skilled maintenance professional responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repair, installation, modification, and preventive maintenance of manufacturing equipment and facility systems in an industrial manufacturing environment. This role involves independent diagnosis and resolution of complex issues while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Complies with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, installs, erects, moves, and/or dismantles all types of machinery and auxiliary production equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance for building and grounds as necessary.
• Maintains all shop tools and equipment and performs clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
• Communicates pertinent information to off shifts.
• Directs efforts of contract labor on specific assignments.
• Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
• Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department and company.
• Communicates with the emergency coordinator (EHS) regarding environmental management activities.
• Understands and responds effectively to EHS directions during emergencies.
• Understands, completes, and maintains environmental documentation as directed by EHS.
• Recognizes waste streams and minimizes waste generation.
• Complies with environmental regulations when handling materials and wastes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 7+ years of job-related mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, Millwright, or similar mechanical maintenance role.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
• Self-motivated problem solver with the ability to minimize downtime.
• Ability to apply independent evaluation and substantial adaptation of engineering techniques.
• Must handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Must follow company policies and procedures.
• Maintains awareness and complies with hazardous waste management requirements.
• Thorough understanding of the operating principles of all assigned equipment.
• General carpentry skills.
• Ability to arc weld, MIG weld, TIG weld, and use oxy-acetylene equipment.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform basic plumbing and piping.
• Ability to perform basic structural and sheet metal fabrication.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to use basic machine shop equipment.
• Must maintain professional competence and ethical integrity.
• Working knowledge of welding, brazing, burning, bending, and machine shop theory.

Additional Information

• This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including high noise levels and chemicals.
• Must wear appropriate safety gear and follow safety practices.
• Works in confined areas.
• Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
