Overview
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Technician I or II to maintain highways and transportation infrastructure in the Fort Worth District. This role involves performing routine maintenance and operations while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assists in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts.
- Performs basic welding as needed.
- Provides support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites.
- Assists stranded motorists as required.
- Controls traffic by placing and gathering cones, warning signs, and barricades.
- Determines placement of traffic control devices and installs/moves devices.
- Maintains highways and rights-of-way, performs roadway repairs, and erects and repairs guard rails.
- Operates complex heavy equipment such as motor graders and large excavators.
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections and minor repairs on equipment.
- Inspects traffic control devices for compliance with specifications.
- Sands or cleans bridges and roads during emergency situations.
Requirements
- No education required.
- TMT I = No experience required.
- TMT II = 1 year experience in transportation engineering support or related work.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Safety Impact Certificate mandatory for TMT I.
- Commercial Class 'A' Driver's License with 'N' Endorsement required for TMT II.

- Required to work weekends and holidays.
