Overview

API Heat Transfer is a global leader in specialty heat exchangers and thermal transfer solutions, seeking Aluminum MIG & TIG Welders for first shift at their Racine location. The company emphasizes a culture of reliability and innovation, aiming to provide the right solutions for their customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in a safe manner.
  • Weld Aluminum Pressure Vessels and Airtight using GMAW Pulse Spray and GTAW welding.
  • Adjust parameter settings for different material thickness.
  • Learn Robot welding set-up and operations.
  • Assemble finished products from blueprints to specifications.
  • Produce products within tolerance.
  • Maintain tools and equipment for assembly operations.
  • Keep work area organized.
  • Comply with ISO 9001 Quality standards and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with MIG and TIG welding.
  • Welding certification from an accredited Technical School preferred.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to provide examples of both GTAW and GMAW proficiency.
  • Mechanical aptitude and functional knowledge of hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and measurements.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
