Overview

Spire is seeking a Welder to work in the Alabama operation. This position involves hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to join metal components while adhering to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
  • Weld components in various positions while monitoring processes to avoid overheating.
  • Examine work to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan welding operations.
  • Prepare welding surfaces for welding.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience as a Pipeline Welder required.
  • Welder certification.
  • Ability to qualify on Spire Gulf’s welding procedure within 90 working days.
  • Ability to work effectively alone and in a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must live within thirty (30) minutes of the reporting location.

  • Ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and maneuver in awkward positions.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions including extreme temperatures.
  • Requires working outdoors and exposure to hazardous equipment.
