Overview

The Welder/Fitter position in a Steel Fabrication Shop involves welding components and ensuring they meet specifications. Candidates should have experience in FCAW welding and the ability to read blueprints and weld symbols.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components in vertical or horizontal position.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure for conformance with specifications.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Maintain equipment in a safe condition.
  • Understand and follow company and OSHA safety rules.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience in FCAW welding/fitting, structural steel background preferred.
  • Recognize and understand weld symbols.
  • Accurately read a tape line.
