Overview

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, is seeking a Night Shift Welder for its plant operations in Accokeek, Maryland. The role involves skilled welding, fabrication, and mechanical maintenance to ensure the efficient operation of heavy machinery.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding, fabrication, mechanical repairs, and maintenance on aggregate processing equipment.
• Inspect plant equipment for cracks, excessive wear, damage, and mechanical deficiencies.
• Perform structural and equipment repairs using stick, MIG, TIG welding and cutting processes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and equipment drawings.
• Repair, rebuild, modify, or replace worn and damaged metal components.
• Perform mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting on various plant equipment.
• Remove, install, align, and replace mechanical components.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on aggregate processing equipment.
• Assist with crusher and conveyor maintenance and changing wear parts.
• Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and major repair projects.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems and work with maintenance personnel.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and maintenance needs during the night shift.
• Perform routine inspections of plant equipment and report unsafe conditions.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with plant operators and maintenance personnel for repairs.
• Complete maintenance and repair documentation.
• Assist other maintenance personnel with various tasks as directed.
• Work independently during the night shift while maintaining communication.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational welding training and AWS welding certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of welding experience in an aggregate plant or heavy industrial maintenance environment.
• Hands-on experience with stick, MIG, TIG, and/or oxy-fuel welding and cutting.
• Experience repairing and maintaining industrial equipment and related machinery.
• Ability to identify mechanical problems and make effective repairs.
• Ability to fabricate, repair, modify, and replace steel components.
• Comfortable reading blueprints, welding symbols, and repair specifications.
• Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
