Overview
Ferrara/KME are premiere manufacturers of fire trucks and emergency response vehicles, committed to safety, innovation, and quality. The Welder I position involves performing precise welds on components for custom vehicles, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Work from shop orders, specifications, prints, and instructions.
- Review material and product requirements and ensure parts are prepared as prescribed.
- Set parts in assembly fixture and ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Select welding parameters per specified weld procedures.
- Fit, tack, and weld joints in specific locations according to designated specifications.
- Manipulate large, heavy units for efficient welding operations.
- Make visual and dimensional checks of work and document as required.
- Notify supervisor of unusual equipment or operating problems.
- Support training and orientation programs for new employees.
- Ensure weld quality is inspected by the Quality Department or third-party agency.
Requirements
- Basic welding knowledge including experience or training in GMAW processes.
- Knowledgeable in Lean Methodologies.
- Ability to read and understand basic assembly prints and weld symbols.
