Overview

Blue Origin is seeking a Welder I for its AGILITY Fabrication Division, part of the Operations team focused on developing safe and reusable space vehicles. This entry-level position involves supporting various fabrication efforts while collaborating with experienced welders to ensure quality and safety in human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Support Dev. Pad rebuild efforts, Test Stands, Launch Pads, and Tooling sites.
  • Complete build-to-print and prototype work for various programs.
  • Collaborate with teammates to ensure accurate weldments for designers.
  • Participate in repairs, upgrades, and fabricating weldments of various sizes and materials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to travel to all Blue Origin facilities up to 25%.
  • Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift, weekends, and overtime as necessary.
  • Self-sufficient, self-starter, and driven.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated experience with welding processes including SMAW, FCAW, GMAW.
  • Working knowledge in pipe and structural fitting and material preparation.
  • Fundamental understanding of welding aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
  • Must be able to work at heights and frequently lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must document and maintain accurate records.
  • Must pass a background check to access U.S. military and NASA installations.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG, Stick, and Flux-Core work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. Stick (SMAW) burns a flux-coated consumable rod and needs no shielding gas, so it works in wind, rain, and on dirty or rusted steel. That tolerance for bad conditions keeps it the default for field, structural, and repair work.
