Overview

CenterPoint Energy is a long-established utility company committed to delivering electricity and natural gas safely and reliably. The Construction and Maintenance Tech I role involves performing field operations related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, repairs or replaces steel/plastic pipes.
  • Provides First Responder assistance in emergency situations.
  • Locates gas lines.
  • Loads and unloads required equipment, tools, and supplies from trucks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Requires 0-2 years of relevant experience in construction, installation and maintenance of gas distribution systems.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle safely and enter/exit unassisted.
  • Able to use a variety of hand tools and power tools.
  • Able to communicate either written and verbally.
  • Able to certify and use personal protective equipment.
