Overview

The Welder - Level 1 position involves laying out, fitting, torch cutting, and welding various metal components to assemble structures such as machinery frames and pressure vessels. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and quality standards while utilizing various welding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts using various welding techniques.
  • Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
  • Repairs dies using grinding, scarfing, and welding techniques.
  • Maintains and makes minor repairs to welding and other shop equipment.
  • Assists Senior Welders.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in welding.
  • Four to six years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in different forms.
  • Demonstrates ability to read drawings and perform welding tasks.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Forklift & Aerial Lift Equipment certification.
  • Safety training in Fire Safety, LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection.
