Overview

The Mechanic B will pursue a career path to qualify as a Mechanic A, performing electrical, welding, or mechanical maintenance work on power plant components and equipment. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and installing power piping systems and various types of rotating mechanical equipment, requiring a working knowledge of multiple technical areas.

Responsibilities

• Pursue a career path to qualify as a Mechanic A.
• Maintain, repair, and install power piping systems and associated components.
• Have a working knowledge of confined space entry, basic pumps, coupling alignment, and other mechanical skills.
• Weld and interpret welding specifications and standards.
• Install, repair, and maintain utility electrical equipment.
• Read schematic drawings and use test equipment to troubleshoot electrical issues.
• Obtain both the New York State and New York City Asbestos Handler's Licenses.
• Drive a company vehicle to work locations when required.
• Gain knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Be willing to work weekends, midnight shifts, and overtime as necessary.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 3 years of relevant work experience with power plant components or equivalent equipment.
• Knowledge in confined space entry, pipe fitting, oxy-acetylene torch cutting, and other technical areas.
• Possesses a NYS Asbestos Handler's License (preferred).
• Possesses knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) (preferred).
• Possesses a welding certification/license and welding experience (preferred).

Additional Information

• The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies.
