Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer III at Holtec is responsible for assisting in project implementation and providing technical support to design and fabrication departments. This role requires expertise in mechanical design to support the growth of the Dry Fuel Storage and Transportation group, with an emphasis on practical engineering, leadership, and collaboration across various operation centers.

Responsibilities

  • Review client and Holtec specifications to determine design requirements.
  • Coordinate and perform integrated product development and engineering processes to fulfill project requirements.
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles and applicable standards.
  • Author and review design changes, specifications, analyses, and drawings.
  • Oversee preparation and review of design concept drawings for equipment.
  • Oversee preparation and review of detailed fabrication drawings for manufacturers.
  • Prepare Purchase/Technical Specifications and Operations and Maintenance Manuals.
  • Provide technical resolutions for manufacturing deviations.
  • Assist design team members with project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and on-time delivery.
  • Travel less than 20% of the time.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Nuclear engineering.
  • 10+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience evaluating others' work.
  • Serves as a primary engineering representative in client-facing discussions.
  • Demonstrates leadership by acting as the lead engineer on projects.
  • Provides mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive training materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail and capable of producing error-free documents.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering design practices and principles.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience using CAD software for 3D models and 2D drawings.
