Overview

Welders are responsible for fitting and welding of steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel parts using a MIG and/or TIG process while ensuring safety, accuracy, and timeliness in the welding area.

Responsibilities

  • Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a Welding Procedure Specification.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements.
  • Weld components/materials based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings.
  • Assemble items as instructed by floor supervisor.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.
  • Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
  • Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Prepare product for shipment.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
