The Welder 3 can read and understand weldment and fabrication drawings. They will use different types of weld machines and weld processes that include: MIG, TIG, plasma cutter, cutting torch on stainless steel, steel, and aluminum. The Welder 3 has successfully passed additional weld (vertical up, horizontal, and overhead) qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Thorough understanding of MIG/TIG processes & machine settings procedures Read, understand, and detect errors in the weldment and fabrication drawings; lay out, assemble, tack, and weld to the drawings Operate vertical and horizontal band saws, and drill presses Operate a plasma cutter and acetylene torch Cut, drill, and deburr material using drawing instructions and blueprints Work safely and wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Ensure that all work meets or exceeds quality specifications Keep work area clean, maintain tools and equipment Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Welding trade school certification or 3 years prior MIG or TIG welding experience Must be able to pass a Company weld evaluation (MIG & TIG) Operate a plasma cutter and acetylene torch Read and understand blueprints The ability to use a tape measure and operate small powered hand tools Basic computer skills are required

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
