Overview

Powell is an engineered manufacturer of switchgear and electrical equipment for the power generation industry. An Assembler II is responsible for putting together components or parts to create finished products, following blueprints and work instructions in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble mechanical components for Switchgear and/or Breaker units according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Perform maintenance and proper use of tools.
  • Perform in process inspections and ensure quality by following standard work instructions.
  • Perform all ship prep functions including splitting gear.
  • Assist in Root Cause Analysis on engineering changes and correct discrepancies.
  • Assist a small team of employees to complete specific tasks.
  • Perform mechanical adjustments for switchgear.
  • Promote a safety culture and attend all safety meetings.
  • Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.

Requirements

  • Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in assembling medium to large sized metal boxes/enclosures or electrical switchgear.
  • Ability to read a tape measure including conversions from fraction to decimal and vice versa.
  • Basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Basic knowledge of operating desktop computer.
  • Safely use a variety of hand/power tools.
  • Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques.

Additional Information

  • Four 10s Schedule: Monday-Thursday 5:00am-3:30pm.
  • Safety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
