Overview

The Assistant Structural Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams in creating world-class designs for various projects, including power, healthcare, and military facilities. This role involves adapting structural plans according to budget constraints and client needs throughout the design and construction process.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the structural design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for various projects including power plants and healthcare facilities.
  • Design structural components based on project needs set by project managers.
  • Apply basic knowledge of structural engineering concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
  • Correct and update drawings provided by senior engineers using CAD software.
  • Assist with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge in standard structural engineering techniques and principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic skills in structural analysis programs, AutoCAD, and BIM software.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country.
