Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Back Welder position involves using various welding techniques to produce high-quality welds in a safe and productive environment.
Responsibilities
- Utilize all safety devices and wear mandatory personal protective safety equipment.
- Maintain and operate production tooling and fixtures as well as all welding equipment safely.
- Produce high quality welds using GMAW and SAW in the fabrication of utility structures.
- Plan work from blueprints or specifications and determine operation sequence to meet production goals.
- Perform longitudinal welding of shaft seams for full penetration welds.
- Adjust welding equipment to prescribed settings.
- Read and complete labor reporting system, standard shop forms, and blueprints.
- Collaborate with other employees to complete jobs.
Requirements
- Must have a passion for integrity and the drive to excel.
- Ability to consistently meet or exceed production goals without sacrificing safety or quality.
- Ability to read weld symbols, understand blueprints, and perform basic mathematics.
- Must pass and obtain Submerged Arc Welding certification in the 1G and 2F positions.
- Must pass and obtain Gas Metal Arc Welding certification in the 2G and 2F positions.
- Welds must pass UT, requiring a high skill level.
- Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook.
- Acceptable attendance and prior employment record.
- Ability to operate overhead cranes, prior experience preferred.
- Must accurately read a tape measure.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Three to five years of hands-on GMAW and SAW multi-pass welding experience in a production environment.

Additional Information
- Shift hours are from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- 36 hours worked but paid for 40 hours.
- Training hours are from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Thursday.
