Overview

Morgan Corp. is seeking a dependable, safety-minded Welder to join their Equipment Division Shop in Duncan, SC. The role involves performing welding, fabrication, and repair work on metal parts and equipment components that support fleet and shop operations.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, safely operate, and maintain welding machines, cutting equipment, hand tools, and related shop equipment.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, repair, and build-up work on metal parts, attachments, and equipment components.
  • Read and follow work orders, measurements, welding symbols, basic drawings, and verbal instructions.
  • Measure, cut, grind, clean, fit, and position materials before welding to ensure proper alignment and fit-up.
  • Inspect completed welds and repaired components for accuracy, defects, and overall quality before returning them to service.
  • Document completed work, material usage, quality checks, and any repair concerns as required.
  • Follow company safety policies, welding procedures, housekeeping standards, and PPE requirements at all times.
  • Communicate with mechanics, shop team members, and supervisors to identify priorities and complete repair or fabrication needs efficiently.
  • Maintain welding equipment and report equipment issues, safety concerns, or material needs to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Previous welding, fabrication, mechanical, or equipment repair experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, measurements, welding symbols, basic drawings, and instructions.
  • Basic math skills required, including reading a tape measure and calculating simple measurements.
  • Working knowledge of safe welding practices, proper PPE use, and shop safety expectations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools, power tools, grinders, cutting tools, clamps, and measuring devices.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify weld defects, fit-up issues, and quality concerns.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members and work well in a shop team environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive work, lift and position materials, and work up to 10.5 hours per shift.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and willingness to work assigned schedule and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while following directions and completing assigned work safely and accurately.
