Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing and packaging environment. This role requires the ability to follow instructions, work with minimal supervision, and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety procedures including LOTO, JSA, and Hot Work Permits.
  • Conduct remedial and preventative maintenance while maintaining facility appearance and safety.
  • Participate in training programs and safety meetings to comply with regulations.
  • Maintain pumps and electric motors including bearing and seal replacements.
  • Review procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Maintain and repair mechanical equipment such as solenoid valves and air compressors.
  • Repair lifting equipment, conveyors, and associated components.
  • Replace pumps, motors, valves, and perform initial alignment and testing.
  • Complete records of time and required regulatory reports.
  • Maintain communication with the Planner/Supervisor regarding maintenance issues.
  • Optimize work to minimize overtime.
  • Participate in cross-training to develop skills in other areas.
  • Utilize precision tools and test equipment as needed.
  • Perform required inspections and train others in technician duties.
  • Complete other job duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • Technical certification or equivalent training in a mechanical environment is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5+ years mechanical maintenance experience is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with advanced troubleshooting skills is required.
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of packaging equipment is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and regulations is required.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Word and Excel are required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Dependability and commitment to the role and team are required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision is required.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in various conditions.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and hold equipment and tools.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and audible signals.
  • Prior SAP experience is a plus.

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
