Job Description

Overview

The Mechanical Engineer role involves owning mechanism design from concept to deployment, working on various engineering problems, and contributing to robotics solutions aimed at humanitarian concerns. The position requires collaboration with a cross-functional team and includes travel to industry customers.

Responsibilities

  • Own mechanism design from initial concept through build, test, and customer deployment.
  • Work on a wide range of engineering problems including electro-mechanical design, fluid systems, test and validation, and electrical thermal management design.
  • Design robotics solutions to address major humanitarian concerns.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of perception engineers, controls, mechanical design, and software architecture.
  • Travel to industry customers to visit aquaculture farms and boats on the east and west US coasts, as well as Mexico.

Requirements

  • B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Background in physical prototyping, mechanism design, and miscellaneous mechanical engineering projects.
  • Experience with CAD tools, preferably NX.
  • Hands-on experience with machining, fabrication methods, and rapid prototyping.
  • Exposure to robotics or embedded systems is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work onsite full time in the El Segundo office in Los Angeles.
  • Mid-level to senior-level role.
  • Minimum experience of 2 years, but more preferred.
