Overview

Verustruct is developing robotic construction technologies to automate the building of affordable and sustainable housing. As a Mechanical Engineer, Level II, you will design, build, and test machines for Verustruct's robotic construction platform, contributing throughout the hardware-development cycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop components and mechanical subsystems for robotic construction equipment.
• Create detailed CAD models, assemblies, drawings, bills of materials, tolerance analyses, and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform mechanical calculations and structural analysis to support design decisions.
• Select motors, actuators, bearings, fasteners, sensors, and other mechanical components.
• Work with internal fabrication resources and outside vendors to manufacture assemblies.
• Assemble, commission, and test prototype hardware.
• Develop test fixtures, define test procedures, and investigate failures.
• Collaborate with various teams to integrate mechanical hardware into a robotic platform.
• Maintain clear engineering documentation and participate in design reviews.
• Take increasing ownership of subsystems and technical decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, aerospace engineering, or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of mechanical-engineering fundamentals.
• Experience developing mechanical designs in a professional, academic, or project-based environment.
• CAD proficiency, ideally in Siemens NX or a comparable platform.
• Hands-on experience assembling, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical hardware.
• Familiarity with mechanisms, actuators, motors, and fabrication processes.
• Ability to communicate technical reasoning clearly and document engineering work effectively.
• A practical, curious, and iterative approach to solving hardware problems.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment.
