Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of various mechanical equipment and building systems at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. The role involves ensuring the safety and functionality of systems such as plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Perform urgent, corrective, routine, preventative, and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment and systems.
  • Maintain routine records of all inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs performed on any equipment or system.
  • Maintain and repair distribution systems involving vacuum, medical air, medical gas systems, and air compressors.
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic equipment located in engine rooms, such as hot water converters, thermostats, induction units, sump pumps, and all piping pertaining to the function of this equipment.
  • Make checks of all mechanical area equipment.
  • Handle maintenance calls from the main office.
  • Assist other trade maintenance technicians with more complicated repairs as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; additional education and/or training required.
  • 3 years of related experience required.
  • Journeyman Mechanical Maintenance (or equivalent) certification.
  • Understanding of electrical safety and lockout/tagout standards.
  • Knowledge of safe practices in daily operations and effective maintenance and repair services.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and recognize and resolve technical problems.
  • Knowledge of HSE policy and ability to implement HSE policies.
