Overview
The Student Center is seeking an experienced Skilled Trades Worker to perform advanced maintenance and renovation tasks, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and other building trades work. This position offers a collaborative environment with opportunities for professional development and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Performs minor operations, maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC, heating equipment, and plumbing.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and systems assigned to HVAC and Heating.
- Transports raw materials and semi-finished products or supplies between department facilities on and off campus.
- Performs minor welding repairs and operates power tools.
- Performs light carpentry work such as rebuilding the dry sauna and table repairs.
- Mixes and pours concrete for foundations and fixtures.
- Performs sheetrock repair and painting.
- Installs, repairs, and services motors, pumps, and fans.
- Operates heavy machinery, such as front-end loader, backhoe, and lift.
- Assists in changing light bulbs and ballasts.
- Assists with floor cleaning such as terrazzo flooring through the facility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Technical or vocational degree in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical trade area; or high school diploma or GED and one year experience in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical trade.
- A valid Georgia driver's license is required.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used in HVAC and heating.
- Knowledge of basic principles and practices of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or other related trades.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform strenuous manual tasks.
- Ability to operate hand tools and equipment used in HVAC and heating and plumbing field, such as jacks, meters, wrenches, etc.
