Overview

ETS-Lindgren is a leading supplier of energy management solutions for the industrial and commercial markets, seeking a TIG Welder to join their global team and contribute to advanced test, measurement, and shielding solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, measure or test completed metal work pieces to ensure conformation to specifications.
  • Assemble, align and clamp work pieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat-treat, or solder fabricated metal components.
  • Correct problems by adjusting controls or by stopping machines and opening holding devices.
  • Layout, fit, or connect parts to be bonded, calculating production measurements as necessary.
  • Mark weld points and positions of components on work pieces using rulers, squares, templates or scribes.
  • Prepare metal surfaces or work pieces using hand-operated equipment, such as grinders, cutters, or drills.
  • Prepare aluminum by cleaning with alcohol or acetone.
  • Select torch tips, alloys, flux, coil, tubing or wire according to metal types or thickness.
  • Set dials and timing controls to regulate electrical current, gas flow pressure, heating or cooling cycles.
  • Observe meters, gauges or machine operations to ensure that soldering or brazing processes meet standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 1-2 years of TIG welding, brazing, and soldering experience meeting superior aesthetic, cosmetic, and high quality standards.
  • Trade School training (preferred).
  • MIG/TIG Certification (preferred).

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
