Overview

Woodward is seeking a TIG Welder 1 for a full-time position on the first shift, committed to integrity, respect, and accountability. The role involves performing TIG welding and maintaining equipment while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Executes welding tasks using standardized techniques and equipment.
  • Conducts regular inspections and routine maintenance of welding tools and machinery.
  • Utilizes technical drawings and specifications to guide welding processes.
  • Inspects welded components for compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and regulations in welding environments.

Requirements

  • Proficient in various welding methods such as MIG, TIG, and/or Arc welding.
  • Identifies and resolves common welding issues using established procedures.
  • Skilled in operating welding equipment and related machinery safely.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Effectively manages time to complete assigned tasks within established schedules.
  • Follows lean practices such as 5S and waste reduction.
  • Understands and adheres to standardized work.
  • Uses basic software for tasks.
  • Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings.
  • Works cooperatively with team members.

  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • 1 week of Training/Orientation: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
