Overview

L3Harris is seeking a Specialist in Welding Quality Process Engineering to ensure quality requirements are integrated into special processes at the Canoga Park facility. The role emphasizes welding and requires a strong understanding of industry standards and practical experience to drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead failure investigation activities to identify root causes and implement mitigating actions.
  • Prepare for audits and inspections, resolve findings, and liaise with auditors and inspectors.
  • Coordinate communication with DCMA on quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership in cause and corrective action activities, failure investigations, and quality improvement projects.
  • Ensure quality requirements are embedded into key manufacturing special processes.
  • Develop and implement inspection plans using various quality tools and techniques.
  • Participate in nonconforming material control and Material Review Board processes.
  • Manage quality projects independently, coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Apply and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing techniques.
  • Conduct investigations, studies, and research.
  • Create metrics to evaluate quality health.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Interface with external customers.
  • Handle multiple tasks and deadlines set by management.
  • Work safely without presenting a threat to self or others.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree with minimum 2 years of related experience, or minimum 8 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Working knowledge of AWS D17.1 or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with quality engineering and mission assurance principles.
  • Experience with failure investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Knowledge of nonconformance reporting and the Material Review Board process.
  • Understanding of qualification processes and testing.
  • Experience with risk management processes.
  • Familiarity with ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing techniques.
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines and Standard Measuring Inspection equipment.
  • Knowledge of machine shop, weld, composite, propellant, electrical, and assembly processes.
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Test inspection processes.
  • Knowledge of dimensional, visual, sample, and witness inspection processes.
  • Experience with Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
  • Familiarity with calibration system requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic quality laboratory processes.
  • Experience with clean room practices and methods.
  • Understanding of configuration management best practices.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage and analyze large data sets.
  • Experience in auditing, interpreting, and evaluating data and processes.
  • Ability to use various test, inspection, and measurement equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related specifications.
  • AWS Certified Weld Inspector or 3 years of hardware-related experience with welding.
