Overview

The Pipe Welder is responsible for various types of weld preparation and finishing operations to manufacture products according to customer specifications. The role also involves mechanical maintenance tasks, and candidates must be able to read P&IDs and Isometric drawings. GreenWood, the hiring company, is a customer-focused maintenance company operating in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains a safe environment at all times
• Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness
• Ensures an ethical and fair testing environment during periods of testing
• Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after all welding processes
• Performs other duties as assigned by the area supervisor

Requirements

• Must have 2-5 years of experience in various forms of pipe welding
• Must have work experience and technical knowledge and skills in gas, arc, shielded, and non-shielded metal arc welding
• Must be able to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and welding symbols
• Must have excellent attention to detail, a focus on accuracy, and a sense of urgency
• Must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the related field
• Must demonstrate a high level of customer service and strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Must be able to complete and pass a preplacement welding test
• Completion of an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty preferred
