Overview

The Mechanical Senior Engineer I is responsible for performing expert level design and analysis work to support various projects, acting as a discipline lead and managing resources. This role involves working on multiple projects from inception through construction completion while adhering to safety and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Applies broad knowledge of industrial piping design principles and practices.
  • Creates or modifies equipment specifications and communicates with equipment suppliers.
  • Independently evaluates, selects and adapts standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Acquires general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields.
  • Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
  • Designs a complete project or system and prepares complete project documents.
  • Coordinates tasks with engineers, designers and administrative staff.
  • Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work.
  • Prepares and manages scope, budget and schedule for projects or assignments.
  • Checks entire job for constructability, interferences, operational safety, and overall quality assurance.
  • Communicates a strong sense of urgency about solving problems and getting work done.
  • Receives general direction on key objectives.
  • Cooperates with other team members and interacts with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering required; MS degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • 6+ years related engineering experience with industrial equipment and industrial piping systems.
  • Strong skill set in understanding PFD’s and P&ID’s.
  • Knowledge of PHMSA standards and design experience in NFPA 59A, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and ASME Section VIII is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic process design and stress analyses including mechanical designs of supports, guides, anchors, hangers strongly preferred.
  • Ability to understand client specifications, procurement, commissioning and start-up standards.
  • Experience using standard computer programs for design such as CAESAR II, AutoPipe, AutoCAD, etc. is preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Exhibits excellent listening, oral and written skills.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach and consistently positive demeanor.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite.
