Overview

Messer is the world’s largest privately held industrial gases company, operating a large portfolio of industrial gas plants. The Senior Fixed Equipment Engineer will provide mechanical engineering support for operations, reliability, and project execution related to fixed equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for operational ASU, CO2, H2, Helium, and onsite plants.
  • Provide piping and vessel engineering specification and design for plant activities.
  • Lead the assessment of infrastructure equipment during plant takeovers.
  • Ensure mechanical integrity of pressure systems through proper practices.
  • Own and update standards and procedures related to Mechanical Integrity and condition assessment processes.
  • Manage compliance of regulatory inspection programs for pressure vessels.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for National Board, ASME, and API code interpretations.
  • Monitor and manage piping and vessel inspections, including in-house and third-party.
  • Approve all piping and vessel inspection and repair procedures.
  • Work with Procurement on evaluating third-party services and preparing work scopes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in operational and engineering environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects and solutions.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proven understanding of regulatory and industry standards and codes.
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31.3, API, NBIC, and CGA documents.
  • Working knowledge of mandatory technical specifications.

Additional Information

  • Position can be based in Bethlehem, PA or Houston, TX.
  • Ability to travel 20-30% (40-60 nights/year).
