Overview
Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to support the engineering and design of natural gas pipeline and compressor station projects. This position involves developing engineering solutions, performing design calculations, and ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering and design for natural gas pipelines and compressor stations.
- Support pipeline and station replacement projects, modifications, upgrades, and new installations.
- Develop hydrostatic test designs for pipelines and pipeline segments.
- Perform engineering calculations including pipe sizing, valve sizing, and hydraulic analysis.
- Develop design criteria and select appropriate materials and equipment.
- Prepare equipment and material specifications and procurement documentation.
- Review and develop P&IDs and other engineering drawings.
- Coordinate with regulatory and permitting agencies for project approvals.
- Work directly with clients to understand project requirements and address technical issues.
- Monitor project costs and progress, identifying variances from plan.
- Participate in and facilitate project meetings with clients and stakeholders.
- Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, testing, and project execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional engineering experience.
- Previous experience within the oil & gas or natural gas pipeline industry preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
- Strong working knowledge of P&IDs and mechanical/process design documentation.
- Experience performing engineering calculations associated with piping, valves, pumps, and compressors.
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and 49 CFR Part 192.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, drawings, codes, and client requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engineering priorities.
