Job Description

Overview

In this role, the Welder will be responsible for laying out, fitting, welding, fabricating, casting, and forging components to assemble structural forms, buildings, and bridge parts, ensuring compliance with various welding standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate welding equipment in accordance with approved welding procedures and project requirements.
  • Maintain required welding certifications and perform welding in accordance with AWS and Company Quality Requirements.
  • Assist Fitter with assembly of fabricated members as needed.
  • Use cutting torches and heating equipment to achieve required preheat temperatures as needed.
  • Operate magnetic drills, grinders, and other fabrication tools required to support welding activities.
  • Operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment to position materials and assemblies for welding when properly trained and authorized.
  • Use carbon arc gouging equipment to prepare and back gouge welds as required by approved welding procedures.
  • Interpret weld symbols, welding procedures, and fabrication requirements.
  • Perform welding in accordance with approved welding procedures, quality requirements, and project specifications.
  • Clean and prepare weld joints before, during, and after welding activities.
  • Inspect completed welds for compliance with applicable quality standards and project requirements.
  • Verify weld quality, fit-up conditions, and dimensional requirements prior to welding.
  • Maintain welding equipment, cables, tools, and work areas in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Travel as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
