Overview
AdAstra is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and build hardware for a small reactor aimed at addressing the growing electricity demand. The role involves working on structures, components, and fluids within the reactor hardware, with a focus on in-house design, testing, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze structures including pressure vessels and seismic isolation.
- Conduct material trade studies and testing for hardware.
- Design components such as valves and heat exchangers for reactor integration.
- Develop and analyze the piping and plumbing network for high reliability.
- Support assembly in the factory and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in designing, analyzing, and building mechanical hardware.
- Experience leading technical projects and reviewing designs.
- Ability to run trade studies and make informed decisions.
- Hands-on experience with fluid, gas, or thermal systems.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
