Overview

The Quality Control Inspector – Welding at Voeller Mixers is responsible for inspecting welded components and assemblies to ensure they meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and applicable welding codes. This role involves performing inspections, documenting results, and collaborating with the Production Manager to resolve quality issues.

Responsibilities

• Inspect welds visually and dimensionally for conformance to engineering drawings and applicable welding codes.
• Verify weld size, length, placement, and appearance against specifications before, during, and after production.
• Use precision measuring tools to confirm dimensional accuracy of fabricated and welded assemblies.
• Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and bills of material to ensure parts meet design intent.
• Identify, tag, and document non-conforming welds or parts; initiate Non-Conformance Reports and coordinate disposition.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, quality logs, and traceability documentation for each job.
• Partner with welders and Production Manager to communicate defects and confirm corrective actions.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts to reduce rework and defects.
• Review and verify material certifications against specification requirements as needed.
• Maintain calibration schedules and records for inspection and measuring equipment.
• Assist with first-article and in-process inspections for new or revised part numbers.
• Communicate quality status, holds, and concerns promptly to the Production Manager.
• Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized inspection and work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control or inspection within a welding or manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) and common weld joint types and symbols.
• Familiarity with AWS welding codes and standards; CWI credential preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments, including calipers and weld gauges.
• Strong attention to detail with solid documentation and record-keeping habits.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office and quality tracking/ERP systems.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing environment.
