Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company that focuses on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Large Pole Fitter Welder position involves assembling products by tack welding various parts to pole shafts under the supervision of the Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Use GMAW process to tack weld components to create pole assemblies.
• Manually position shafts for assembly using a jib crane.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine necessary parts for assembly.
• Cut steel using a plasma torch and jigs.
• Measure distances and angles using various tools.
• Work in confined areas to accurately assemble components.
• Operate motorized grinders and buffers to assist in assembly.
• Maintain professional competencies and certifications.
• Report training needs to management.
• Maintain a clean and organized workplace implementing LEAN practices.
• Set up, operate, and perform maintenance on equipment.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and write English.
• 3-5 years of experience fitting in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to calculate simple mathematics.
• 3 years experience reading and using blueprints.
• 3 years previous experience in manufacturing or fabrication, or a Technical Training Program in welding.
• Must pass FCAW, GMAW, and SAW weld tests and maintain certification.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes, prior experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
