Overview

The Welder position at AKG North American Operations, Inc. in Mitchell, SD, involves operating welding equipment to weld and attach tanks or other parts to the core according to blueprint instructions. This is a full-time role on the 1st shift, requiring the ability to perform essential welding duties satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand detailed work order instructions and blueprints.
• Move the core into and out of the welding booth using a chain hoist if needed.
• Match the correct tanks to each side of the core based on blueprint instructions.
• Tack each corner of the core and use a hammer to position the tanks properly.
• Operate welding equipment using a hand trigger to control current/voltage.
• Weld additional components onto the core as required by blueprint instructions.
• Use the appropriate welding rod to weld all sides of the core.
• Complete the wash-down process on each corner after welding.
• Document and stamp the cooler once the welding process is finished.
• Meet production quotas set by the Lead or Supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Report any issues to the Supervisor or appropriate personnel.
• Follow all policies and procedures outlined in AKG’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Maintain regular physical attendance as required for this position.

Requirements

• Completion of a formal trade school program with a welding concentration.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program and/or on-the-job training by Welders at AKG North American Operations, Inc.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Additional Information

• Full-Time position.
• 1st Shift: 6AM - 2PM, Monday to Friday.
