Overview

The PATH Station Trainee position is a training role for individuals aiming to work as journey-level Carpenters, Plumbers, Masons, Fire Marshals, or Painters. The role involves assisting in the maintenance, repair, and installation of various structures and equipment within the PATH system.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance, repair, and installation of locks, doors, floors, walls, handrails, roofs, and piping systems.
  • Inspect roof drains at various locations throughout the PATH system.
  • Assist in masonry repair on stairs, sidewalks, and walls.
  • Perform demolition using a jackhammer and hand tools.
  • Paint PATH and tenant-occupied areas, corridors, and stations.
  • Become proficient in the Fire Marshal craft and carry fire extinguishers over uneven terrain.
  • Support in snow removal and adverse weather response.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of experience in the building maintenance and/or construction field.
  • Valid driver's license.

Additional Information

  • The training program lasts for one year and trainees will not be considered for other positions at PATH during this time.
  • Selected candidates will participate in a written and practical exam as part of the assessment process.
  • Employees are required to work weekends, holidays, and atypical hours.
  • Working conditions may include inclement weather and direct contact with the public.

  • Hourly Salary: $35.69
